YONLAPA are a four-piece from Chiang Mai who turned nostalgic, dreamy indie-pop into a passport out of northern Thailand. The band formed in 2018 around singer-guitarist Noi Naa (Yonlapa Pienpanassak) — who lent the group her own name — after the members kept crossing paths playing the city's music bars. Their 2019 debut single 'U' and the breakout 'Let Me Go' won them fans far beyond Thailand, leading to a Japanese release on Big Romantic Records and repeated tours of Japan and Taiwan. Outspoken about how hard it is to build a music scene outside Bangkok, YONLAPA refuse to chase the mainstream; their 2023 album 'Lingering Gloaming' pushed into rockier, more personal territory, cementing them as one of the most distinctive voices in Thai indie.
