Mai Charoenpura is a Thai singer and actress, and one of the significant women in Thai rock of the nineties — charisma and a voice like nobody else's. She entered the industry as an actress in the film Kho Khae Khid Thueng at fifteen, appeared in eight films in 1985, and won a Golden Doll award for Duang Yihwa. She then signed to GMM Grammy at Busaba Daoruang's invitation and broke through as a singer with the album Mai Muan in 1989. That stretch reached two million cassettes, she says, and songs like 'Sut Rit Sut Det' and 'Sia Jai Dai Yin Mai' were the peak of the peak. She later returned to television as Mae Yoi in the drama Krong Kam, after a decade away from acting.
