Big Ass started in a classroom at Satriwitthaya 2, where Apichart Promraksa (Moo) and Poonsak Jaturabun (Off) were classmates messing about in a band. They scattered after school; Off went on to Dusit construction college and brought in Ekkarat Wongchalard (Dak), while Moo, at art college, brought in Ekkarat Rattanapinta (Ton). The four still had no drummer, so Moo's younger brother Kajorndej Promraksa (Kob) joined. They took Best New Artist at the Season Awards in 1998, and have lasted more than twenty-five years without becoming just a name in somebody's nostalgia.
