Hitsujibungaku (羊文学) are a Japanese alternative rock trio — Moeka Shiotsuka on vocals and guitar, Yurika Kasai on bass, Hiroa Fukuda on drums — whose sound is delicate and forceful at once. The band started when Moeka was in high school and became active in releases and live shows after settling into this line-up in 2017. None of them has extraordinary technique, she says; it is precisely because they cannot do everything that a certain crookedness and simplicity comes out, and that is what they have kept chasing. In 2023 their album our hope took the top prize at the 15th CD Shop Awards, they played the main stage at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL, completed a twelve-date national headline tour, and played their first overseas headline shows in Taipei and Shanghai — both sold out as soon as tickets went on sale. Their song 'more than words' is the ending theme for the Shibuya Incident arc of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen, and the album 12 hugs (like butterflies) closed that year.
