Jackson Wang was born in Hong Kong and first became known as a member of GOT7, who debuted in 2014 when he was nineteen; he launched his solo career with Mirrors in 2019. After a whirlwind world tour in 2023 he knew he needed a break. He says he missed a lot of his twenties, the good moments and the bad, and reached a point where he did not know what Jackson Wang even was any more. He took a year off to reflect and reconnect with himself, and turned the turmoil into diary entries that became the songs of MAGICMAN 2, released in July 2025 — an album about loneliness, doubt and the restlessness that comes with relentless ambition, made on the view that vulnerability is not a weakness but his greatest strength. He also explains why he seems to be everywhere: he has no label and no company marketing him, so he is trying his best to get his music out himself.
