Lisa Ono is the Japanese-Brazilian singer who made bossa nova a shared language. Born in Sao Paulo in 1962 and raised on Brazilian music before debuting in Japan in 1989, she wraps the warmth of Rio in a soft, unhurried voice. A four-time winner of the Japan Gold Disc Award in the jazz category, she was honored with Brazil's National Order of Rio Branco in 2013 for bridging the two cultures through song.
