Mint Maleewan Jemina is one of Thai music's great voices. She grew up in a family of musicians and has been singing since she was five, with her father as her teacher throughout, before singing in church and forming a band called Sugar Trio with friends. Her path differs from most powerful Thai singers in that it did not start on a competition stage: she was earning from singing as a child. She released the album Maleewan lae Charat in 1985 and Kap Chan in 1986 on Nightspot before moving to Grammy. Prattana lae Arom (1991) is her most-loved record and sold more than a million cassettes, putting her in the front rank; 'Kho Phiang Thi Phak Jai' from it became her signature song. 'Songsan Kan Noi', 'Ballang Mek', 'Kho Khae Dai Ru' and 'Mai Phit Chai Mai' are among the others people remember. She now also teaches singing.
