Mateus Asato is a Brazilian guitarist whom the press has called one of the most influential players of this era — on Guitar World's Top 10 Guitarists of the Decade in 2020, and third on Total Guitar's Top Guitarist Right Now the same year. He has worked with Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic, Jessie J, Tori Kelly, Selena Gomez, LANY, Polyphia and DJ Snake, among many others. He started on acoustic guitar at nine, and a year later found in the electric his largest passion in music. His first influences were Brazilian guitarists — Juninho Afram, Kiko Loureiro, Edu Ardanuy — before the eighties and nineties guitar heroes: Satriani, Van Halen, Paul Gilbert, Petrucci. In 2021 he stepped away from social media, overwhelmed. He had started looking at his guitar as a job, he says; it had become content creation, and there is a big difference between filming content and making music.
