SIRUP is an R&B, neo-soul and hip-hop artist from Japan. He entered the scene in 2007 as KYOtaro, then wanted a fresh start both musically and in how he lived, and to move further toward the hip-hop sound he works in now. The name SIRUP comes from folding together 'sing' and 'rap' — it simply arrived, he says, in the middle of a recording session. He first played Bangkok at VERY Festival in 2022 with brb., and came back for Big Mountain Music Festival, where he wandered the grounds and found the atmosphere nothing like Japan: so many booths and stalls that it felt more like a fair than a music event.
