The Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra (TKWO) is a professional concert band based in Tokyo, widely regarded as one of Japan's premier wind ensembles and one of the world's leading civilian professional wind orchestras. It was founded in 1960 as the Kosei Symphonic Band, affiliated with the lay-Buddhist organization Rissho Kosei-kai, and adopted its current name in 1973. In 2022 it became an independent general incorporated association, and it performs a broad repertoire spanning original wind works, classical arrangements, and popular music. Its legacy is anchored by conductor laureate Frederick Fennell and an extensive catalogue of recordings that have shaped wind-band performance in Japan and beyond.
