Toy Thanwa Boonsungnoen grew up waking to a father at the piano and a mother rehearsing her singing, every day. He picked up a guitar at seven and taught himself — no class, ever, and ten to twelve hours of practice a day. At fifteen he placed second in the country at the Light Ibanez Guitar Solo Competition 2014; at seventeen, fifth in the world at the Kiesel Guitars Solo Contest; at nineteen he won Overdrive Guitar Contest 9. He plays nearly anything put in front of him — guitar, piano, drums, saxophone, trumpet, ranat, khlui — took session work in studios at sixteen and was producing at seventeen. The producing began in secondary school, when his class needed a song for an inter-school contest and the idea they used was his.
