James Blunt is a British singer-songwriter. 'You're Beautiful', from the album Back to Bedlam, made him a household name in 2005 and went to No. 1 on charts around the world, the Billboard Hot 100 among them; months later 'Goodbye My Lover' reached the Top 20 of the Adult Top 40. He has been nominated for five GRAMMYs. Nearly twenty years on he released the ten-track Who We Used to Be. His place in the world is changing, he says, and that throws up questions which turn into songs. He calls his older work selfish songs about himself; this time he is singing outside himself. The questions of life, as he puts it, are not just whether he will be all right but whether his children will be, and how fast the time with them goes.
