Show evidence →My Chemical Romance (MCR) are the New Jersey rock band that became the beating heart of 2000s emo. Formed in 2001 by frontman Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, and Gerard's bassist brother Mikey Way, they broke through with 2004's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge before making history with the theatrical rock opera The Black Parade (2006) and its generation-defining anthem 'Welcome to the Black Parade.' Though they split in 2013, their long-awaited reunion proved the music — and one of rock's most fervent fandoms — never faded.
