Whether this stillness is the artist's or Hoshi's has not been checked
Kraftwerk were the German pioneers of electro rock. Their Kling Klang studio in Düsseldorf has no telephone and no reception, and mail sent there is reportedly returned unopened. When they first drew attention in the early seventies they rarely played live, and their perfectionism in the studio meant long gaps between albums. They wrapped their music, their records and their lives in an attention to efficiency, automation and industry; they loved machines and technology, wrote about autobahns and train journeys, and behaved like Futurists already living in the future. Albums like Autobahn (1974) went deep into David Bowie and Brian Eno, into DJs like Derrick May and Afrika Bambaataa, and into the producer Giorgio Moroder.
