Lovejoy are a British indie rock band. Pebble Brain, seven songs, arrived on 13 October — as complex as their first EP, Are You Alright?, and much brighter in its musical intensity. Their signature parts are all there: trumpets threaded through nearly every song, well-blended instrumental breakdowns, and lyrics that keep returning to romantic relationships, the motif of singer Wilbur Soot's writing. He also pushed himself here, into choppy, strong rock vocals a long way from anything he had sung before.
