RICEWINE is the name Talae Rodden records under. He started making music in a small town outside Melbourne to keep his mind occupied, and it became a creative outlet full of poetic lyrics and heartfelt melodies, lo-fi textures, a soft but powerful voice and the occasional rap. He still likes to think of music as a hobby, he says, because making it a career sounds like a pipe dream — though the more he does it the more he believes it is possible, since music is the only thing he has consistently enjoyed since he was a child. He refuses to be held by genre labels, focusing instead on his own complicated feelings rather than easily defined soundscapes.
