Yented (stylised YENTED) are a Thai pop band that grew out of Phayao University, where the founding members were students who started making music together around 2018. Fronted by singer Jao (Pongthorn Pametho), the band mixes pop with neo-soul and R&B textures and a playful, unpretentious streak, refusing to box themselves into a single genre and letting the songs follow the mood. They first caught attention with 'Rak Jang Jang Thi Ang Mae Tam', written casually while hanging out by a Phayao reservoir, before the neo-soul-tinged 'Her' and the hit 'Tha Hak Ther Ja Pai' — which has passed hundreds of millions of streams — made them one of the more distinctive names in Thailand's indie scene. What stays constant, they say, is the voice and the accent they carry into the music.
