AURORA is a Norwegian singer-songwriter. What Happened To The Heart? follows the banger-heavy The Gods We Can Touch (2022) and is at once an ode to the death of her former self and a club-driven call to humanity while the planet is dying and the world is at war. Her instruction to a listener is to take yourself out for a drink, put on headphones and rekindle your relationship with your own heart. As a songwriter she lays her emotions viscerally bare; as a dancer she throws shapes and tells you to get into the groove, then flexes vocal acrobatics over throbbing techno, ecstatic Euro-pop and pulsating funk. Tom Rowlands of the Chemical Brothers appears in the production credits, and she also takes a moment there to thank the Earth. What she loves most, she says, are the connections lingering between the notes.
