Tahiti 80 formed among college students in Rouen, France, and have spent a quarter-century refusing to sit inside one genre — so they named their own: the 'fusion of sunshine pop, blue-eyed soul and beat music' of their seventh album, The Sunshine Beat Vol. 1. Xavier Boyer fronts, with multi-instrumentalists Pedro Resende and Médéric Gontier, and Raphaël Léger on drums, in the live band since 2002 and on the records since '08. For that album they went back to Andy Chase of Ivy, who had produced their debut Puzzle twenty years earlier.
